You cant play an assassin in Nightfall, vice versa Factions??
So I am curious how this all works... Someone help this noob please...
In Factions you can be a Ritualist or an Assassin, in Nightfall you can be a Paragon or that other thing. But you cant play those in the other ones? What is up with that, you can use warriors and necros? I dont get it... thanks |

Assassins and Ritualists are Factions-Exclusive, and can only be made in that campaign. Paragons and Dervishes are Nightfall-Exclusive. All other classes are core, and can be made in any campaign.
Nothing is stopping you from making a class from one campaign and moving to the other... |

Errr, well, you can play an Assassin in Nightfall. But you can only create them in Factions.
As for the warrior/necro thing, those are the core classes. |

warrior, ranger, monk, mesmer, elementalist, and necromancer are the 6 core classes, available to all chapters. assassins and ritualists are unique to factions. paragons and dervishes are unique to nightfall.

Assassins and ritualists are campaign specific professions of Factions and paragon and dervish are campaign specific professions of Nightfall. The other 6 classes are core professions. This provides something unique per campaign and also requires you to have all the chapters if you want all the characters!

It is possible to play though any chapter with any character type that you own. You just won't be able to start at the same spot. Say you want to make an assassin primary and use him for the Nightfall campaign. To do this, you would make a new Factions character, and play through Factions till you get to Kaening Center, where you can take a boat to Elona and play through nightfall. There are similar ways of moving characters to/from prophecies and nightfall. Basically, this prevents someone who doesn't own a chapter from using that chapter's classes. The 6 other classes (warrior/monk/mesmer/necro/ele/ranger) are considered core classes and available to players of any chapter.

Ok... So can you make a assassin in Factions and later make your assassins secondary class a Paragon?

You need to finish one of the Building The Base quests...I think it's the first one. You get the quest from The Command Post, north of Sunspear Sanctuary.
